new one-off house on a high set site overlooking the sea ( internal views to follow…) in a simple style with a mix of smooth white render and larch with plenty windows to make the best of the fabulous views……images are of the house nearing completion.
East Balnakelly farmhouse
East Balnakelly farmhouse – much extended but still retaining the character of the old house but making the most of the fabulous location and views .
The Moll, Skye
Best bit of the job is getting asked back to see a finished project by a happy client (and given champagne. … I love them!)
Despite the drizzle these snaps show how nicely it settles into its beach side location with a stone base, larch glass and slate. The whole seafront elevation has glass to maximise the aspect , with bedrooms tucked in behind and open plan spaces upstairs.

taigh solais
‘taigh solais’ ( meaning house of light ) is a recently completed on the isle of skye. Using simple vernacular references the form echoes the traditional materials and shapes of the area but with extensive use of glass to light the open plan interior culminating with a huge glass picture window facing the sea. The house is orientated to focus on an island and frame the view with this window. Use of a sheltered veranda protects from the prevailing winds and creates solar shading on the south elevation. Its is to be a cost effective timber framed build, highly insulated with a flexible open plan layout.
