This simple cottage renovation has been a labour of love for a determined client… empty for 30 years with no aspect or bathroom, it’s now had a Totally new light bright insulated interior and best of all a wee extension to bring the fantastic views of Bla Bhein into the cottage. And a neat picture window for a view whilst maintaining visual protection from the road . Total pleasure to cycle down here today for a visit.

Lovely conversion of an old cottage to a guest annexe on Skye.
wester achnahanat cottage
renovation and extension to a charming wee cottage. the cottage is being renovated with lime mortar and a red metal roof, leading into a light timber clad extension with extensive use of glazing to frame and embrace the views. The timber clad, zinc roofed extension is reached via a minimal glass link, and is settled into the landscape using a stone base. The elevations and fenestration are a direct response to the views from within , creating an apparently random exterior. The scale, detailing and materials are deliberately pared down to respond to and reflect the simple Scottish vernacular
upper corrie croft
lovely light bright barn conversion – especially nice interior design mostly thanks to a client with a great eye. Very open plan family friendly spaces – all with terrific views !

Edi’s Extension
Contemporary extension to a listed building in Aberdeen. Client wanted a light open extension to connect with the garden and complement the more traditional spaces of the main house. I designed a building with no external structural corner to enable the large glass doors to slide open both ways to open the inside to the garden fully. The link was further enhanced with use of inside-outside materials such as slated floor and patio to give a continuous view and feel . A quality modern response to a quality traditional building.
